I have a similar problem. Only the Mac side of the disk partition reads the DVD, the Windows side creates a new drive on the computer containing the music tracks on the DVD but the program being run on Windows (Sony SonicStage) cannot read it. Message just appears telling me to insert a CD/DVD into drive (which is already there!). Apple suggested closing programs on Mac that may be trying to access the DVD drive (such as iTunes) which I did but the problem remains. However if I re-boot just into the Windows (not using Parallels) it will work as normal, but the point of using Parallels is to avoid any re-booting. I had to re-boot to load all my operating disks onto the new Mac for my cameras, scanner, Photoshop, Sonic Stage because every time I inserted a disk nothing happened when using Parallels partition.
